NBA players are notoriously picky about their pre-game music, to the point where many teams allow their players to select a special song during warm-ups on a rotating basis. One night, somebody picks Young Jeezy. The next night, his teammate picks Lil Wayne.
Just prepare yourself or whenever it gets to be Russell Westbrook’s turn. Prior to Friday night’s game between the Thunder and the Mavericks, Westbrook was caught on camera singing along to “Die Young” by pop singer Ke$ha.
The lyrics, which Westbrook clearly knows by heart, go something like this:
I hear your heart beat to the beat of the drums //
Oh what a shame that you came here with someone //
So while you’re here in my arms //
Let’s make the most of the night like we’re gonna die young
Hey, if it works, it works.
Westbrook finished with 31 points, six rebounds and six assists and teammate Kevin Durant exploded for a career-high 52 points and nine rebounds in a 117-114 Thunder victory. Oklahoma City improved to a league-best 32-8.
