Buffalo Sabres rookie forward Mikhail Grigorenko will remain with the club for the rest of the 2013 season. With Grigorenko still possessing junior eligibility, the Sabres could have returned the 18-year-old back to his junior club. This would have preserved the first year of his entry-level contract. However, Grigorenko’s performance in the first five games of the season has appeared to force the team’s hand in keeping him in the NHL. When he takes the ice for his next NHL game, the first year of his contract will officially begin and his salary cap-hit will count against the team’s payroll. The team will be in action on Tuesday night when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
