In the latest in a series of encouraging recovery steps for Derek Jeter, the Yankees’ shortstop is expected to begin a running program in the next few weeks. He has been working in the Yankees’ spring training complex in Florida, after he was cleared for baseball activities on January 16th.
Jeter is still on track to be fully recovered from his October ankle surgery in time for the opening of the 2013 season. He’s been successfully hitting in the cage and fielding grounders since late last week.
Jeter said "I'm right where I need to be." Expects to start running in a couple of weeks, around time when position players report—
