The Los Angeles Lakers are in the midst of terrible season, with criticism of the team coming from all sides. Now the criticism is coming from one of the franchises’ greatest ever players.
On his Twitter account Friday, former Lakers point guard and current ESPN NBA analyst Earvin “Magic” Johnson lambasted his former team, saying he was “embarrassed” by their performance in a 116-95 loss to the Boston Celtics Thursday night.
In one tweet, which went over the 140 character limit and appeared in full on a long tweet site, Johnson said :
Not sure if I was embarrassed for this Lakers team or embarrassed to be a former Laker, because of how they played against our rivals the Celtics last night.
He followed that up with a suggestion for Lakers owner Jim Buss:
If I was Jim Buss I would travel w/ the @Lakers. Jim needs to find out what the issues are with the team, he can't do that from an office.—

And lastly, a word of congratulations for Kevin Garnett, the go-to-guy for one of the Lakers’ biggest historical rivals :
Congrats to Kevin Garnett for scoring over 25,000 career points!—

As of Friday, the Lakers own a 23-27 record and sit 3.5 games back of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
