Ravens wide receiver Anquan Boldin told NBC Sports Radio that if the team cuts him, he will retire. Boldin is due for $6 million in 2013, with one year remaining in his four-year, $25 million contract.
The Ravens have $15.3 million in cap space, but the team has several big players to pay. Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco is in the process of negotiating a long-term deal that will likely make him one of the highest-paid QBs in the NFL. The Ravens also need to pay Paul Kruger, Dannell Ellerbe and Ed Reed, all of whom are set to enter free agency.

Wide receivers Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones were heroes in the postseason and Super Bowl for the Ravens, hurting Boldin’s chances of staying with the team. Even though Boldin had an impressive postseason run, with 22 passes for 380 yards in four games and four touchdowns, his regular season performance might not be enough to save his spot.
At only 32, Boldin would fare well in free agency, but he’s made it clear that if he doesn’t get his $6 million from the Ravens, he’s done. If Boldin does get cut by Baltimore, he’ll join Ray Lewis as a Raven ending his career with a Super Bowl win.
Anquan Boldin just told me he will RETIRE if he is cut by the Ravens. They will be his last team. #NFL #Profootballtalk—
