South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney missed the Gamecocks’ 35-28 win over Kentucky on Saturday with a bruised rib. At least, that’s what the team announced before the game.

During South Carolina’s postgame press conference after the victory, head coach Steve Spurrier and defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward were asked about the decision to keep Clowney out. The coaches offered a few tongue-in-cheek comments regarding their star.
